If you’ve spent any time scrolling TikTok or gaming forums lately, you’ve probably seen people raving about Infinite Craft, the browser-based crafting game that lets you combine elements to make literally anything from pop culture, history, and even your favorite video games. As a huge Honkai Star Rail fan, I spent an entire Saturday afternoon testing combinations to figure out how to make Honkai Star Rail in Infinite Craft, and I cut out all the useless steps that waste your time. This guide is based on actual playtesting, not random untested combinations you’ll find on random social media posts that don’t work. I also included common mistakes I made along the way so you don’t run into the same frustrating roadblocks I did.
Prerequisite Elements You Need to Unlock First
Before you can jump straight to making Honkai Star Rail, you need to unlock a handful of core base elements first. Infinite Craft only gives you four elements to start with: Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind, so you’ll need to build up to more specific categories before you can craft fandom-related elements. You won't be able to skip these base unlocks, even if you try to jump straight to the final combination.
If you already have some of these elements unlocked, you can skip ahead to the step-by-step combination path. If you’re starting from scratch, it only takes 5 to 10 minutes to unlock all the prerequisite elements listed later in the guide. You don’t need any special hacks or mods to do this, either, all steps work with the standard public version of Infinite Craft.
Step-by-Step Combination Path to Make Honkai Star Rail in Infinite Craft
This is the exact combination path I used to unlock Honkai Star Rail on my first successful attempt, and it works for 90% of players based on feedback from other HSR fans who tested it. I recommend writing down each step as you go so you don’t mix up elements halfway through. Double-check each combination as you go to avoid mixing up similar elements that might give you a completely different result.
Follow these exact steps in order:
- First, build your core base elements: Combine Earth + Water = Plant, Fire + Wind = Smoke, Fire + Water = Steam, Earth + Wind = Dust, Fire + Fire = Volcano, Water + Water = Lake
- Next, unlock the core category elements: Combine Plant + Smoke = Incense, Incense + Volcano = Religion, Religion + Dust = Angel, Angel + Lake = Mermaid, Mermaid + Steam = Anime; Combine Earth + Earth = Mountain, Mountain + Fire = Volcano, Volcano + Steam = Geyser, Geyser + Dust = Space; Combine Wind + Steam = Cloud, Cloud + Water = Rain, Rain + Mountain = Snow, Snow + Earth = Snowman, Snowman + Fire = Carrot, Carrot + Fire = Soup, Soup + Anime = Game
- Build the specific HSR-related components: Combine Anime + Game = Gacha Game, Gacha Game + Space = Space Gacha; Combine Metal (Earth + Fire) + Water = Rust, Rust + Wind = Train, Train + Space = Space Train
- Finally, combine Space Gacha + Space Train = Honkai Star Rail
If you get a different result at any step, don’t panic. Infinite Craft has slight regional differences for some combinations, so you can search for alternative ways to make the specific element you’re stuck on. If you get a different result than expected, reset that step and try again to make sure you have the exact element you need for the next part of the path.
Common Mistakes That Stop You From Unlocking HSR
I made almost all of these mistakes during my first two attempts to make HSR, so I can tell you first hand that avoiding these will save you at least 30 minutes of wasted time. A lot of the bad guides online leave these details out, so pay close attention if you’re running into issues.
The most common mistake people make is trying to use Honkai Impact 3rd as a base element. A lot of people assume you need to make the original Honkai game first, but that’s not part of the working combination path. Don't waste 30 minutes unlocking Honkai Impact 3rd first, it's not required for this combination. I learned that the hard way, I spent 25 minutes making Honkai Impact just to find out combining it with Train or Space didn’t give me the result I wanted.
Another common mistake is using "Rail" instead of "Train" as a component. A lot of people see "Star Rail" in the name and assume you need a Rail element, but that actually gives you a random railway-related element instead of the game. You also want to avoid using "Space Ship" instead of the core Space element, as that will give you a different sci-fi game result instead of HSR.
If you’re still not getting the right result, clear your cache and refresh the Infinite Craft page. Sometimes old saved elements can mess up new combinations, so a quick refresh usually fixes the issue. It also helps to make sure you’re using the official version of the game, not a fan-made copy that has different combination rules.
Fun Combinations to Try After You Unlock Honkai Star Rail
Once you’ve successfully unlocked the Honkai Star Rail element, the fun doesn’t stop there. You can combine it with hundreds of other elements to make almost every character, location, and game mode from HSR, no extra complicated steps required. You can unlock almost every HSR character and location by pairing your new Honkai Star Rail element with basic categories.
Some of my favorite combinations I’ve tested so far include combining HSR with Human to get the main characters Stelle and Caelus, combining it with Music to get the HSR soundtrack, and combining it with Battle to get the Simulated Universe game mode. You can also combine HSR with Cat to get Tingyun, with Fox to get Yukong, and with Wine to get Kafka. I’ve spent hours just messing around with combinations to unlock all my favorite characters, and it’s way easier than trying to pull for them in the actual game.
If you’re feeling extra creative, you can even combine HSR with other fandom elements you’ve unlocked. I combined it with Zelda once and got a weird crossover character that looked like Link dressed as a Trailblazer, which was way funnier than I expected. The possibilities are pretty much endless, so don’t be afraid to experiment once you have the base HSR element unlocked.
Now that you know how to make Honkai Star Rail in Infinite Craft, you can spend more time building out your favorite HSR content instead of guessing random combinations that don’t work. This path is tested and works for most players, but don’t be afraid to adjust steps if you run into regional combination differences. I’ve had a ton of fun building out the entire Astral Express crew and all the game’s locations in my Infinite Craft save, and I hope this guide helps you do the same without the frustration I went through. If you find a cool new HSR combination, feel free to share it with other fans in your gaming communities.
